Piercings in the Winter: What to Keep in Mind Piercings in the Winter: What to Keep in Mind

Piercings in the Winter: What to Keep in Mind

    November 6, 2025 | Nadia Al-Amoudi

Winter might not be the first season people think of for new piercings, but it actually has its advantages. Many people take advantage of the slower season, holiday breaks, or House of Gaia gift cards to finally get that piercing they’ve been dreaming of. Plus, getting pierced in the colder months often means your piercing will be fully healed and ready to show off by summer!

That said, winter does bring some unique conditions worth keeping in mind for a smooth healing process.

    Cold Weather & Dry Skin

When the air outside is cold and indoor heating is running, your skin can lose moisture quickly. This dryness can sometimes affect healing piercings, especially on the face. Keeping your body hydrated and using a humidifier at home helps maintain moisture in your skin and supports the healing process. Think of it as caring for both your skin and your new adornment at the same time.

    Winter Sniffles & Nose Piercings

Runny or congested noses are common this time of year, which can make nose piercings a bit more sensitive. If you’re prone to winter colds or allergies, just be gentle when blowing or wiping your nose, and stick to your saline aftercare routine. A little extra care goes a long way in keeping irritation away.

With mindful care and attention, your winter piercing can heal beautifully and be ready to shine by the time the warm weather returns.
